Translation Overrides
Customize workspace translation strings and locale-specific labels.
Translation overrides let owners and admins replace default app text for a workspace. Use them when your team needs different labels, local wording, or customer-facing text in supported locales.
Before You Start
Custom translations must be enabled from language settings before overrides affect the workspace. If the translations page shows that custom translations are disabled, open Settings > Language and enable the option there first.
Add a Translation
- Open Settings.
- Go to Translations.
- Select Add translation.
- Choose an existing group, a JSON group, or a new group.
- Select or enter the translation key.
- Enter the text for each supported locale.
- Save the translation.
When you choose an existing group and key, Agiled shows the original value so you can compare the replacement before saving it.
Keep replacement text close to the original meaning unless your team has approved a terminology change. A translation override can change how users understand buttons, statuses, errors, and customer-facing messages.
Before Adding Overrides
Confirm the wording problem is workspace-specific. If the default text is already correct for most teams, use an override. If the problem is a product bug or unclear workflow, fix the underlying documentation or UI instead of hiding it with a local label.
Write down why the override exists. This helps future admins decide whether the custom label is still needed after product updates or process changes.
Edit a Translation
- Open Settings > Translations.
- Use the group filter or search box to find the row.
- Select Edit.
- Update the locale values.
- Save the change.
Changes clear the runtime translation cache so the new values can be loaded by the app. Users may need to refresh active browser tabs to see the latest text.
After editing, review the page where the text appears in every enabled locale. Short labels can overflow buttons or tables when translated into longer text.
Delete a Translation
Delete an override when you want Agiled to use the default product text again. Deleting the row does not delete the default translation key.
If a wording change causes confusion, delete or edit the override immediately instead of changing unrelated translations. Keep overrides narrow so rollback is easy.
Use delete as the rollback path when a custom label causes support issues. The workspace returns to the default product text for that key.
Test Long Labels
After saving, check the page where the label appears at normal and mobile widths. Long translated labels can overflow buttons, table headers, sidebars, and public forms.
Search and Filter
Use the group filter to narrow the table to one translation area. Use search to find keys or text across the current translation list. Pagination appears when there are more rows than one page can show.
Permissions
Only owners and admins can manage translation overrides. Other users may be able to view the page depending on their workspace access, but they cannot create, edit, or delete rows.
Translation Review Checklist
Before rolling out overrides:
- confirm custom translations are enabled
- test the label in every supported locale
- check desktop and mobile-width layouts
- review public forms, booking pages, finance pages, and emails where relevant
- document why the override exists
- keep a rollback plan for customer-facing labels
